What is Clipsal C-Bus? |
- Clipsal C-Bus is a family of home automation products.
C-Bus home automation products communicate with each other on a dedicated network.
C-Bus refers to the network, its communications protocol, and the system of components on
the network.
C-Bus is sometimes incorrectly referred to as CBus.
- What does "C-Bus" stand for?
The "C" in C-Bus stands for Clipsal, because Clipsal developed and
manufactures C-Bus.
Clipsal C-Bus is a "Bus" because its components are connected in parallel to the
C-Bus network without any network hub. Clipsal C-Bus supports staring and looping of
connections for easy installation and expansion.
- Is Clipsal C-Bus common in homes?
Yes. Clipsal C-Bus is the leading lighting and energy management system in homes and
buildings in Australia. The most common reasons for not installing C-Bus include:
- The home owner does not know what professionally designed and programmed C-Bus can do
for them, or;
- The home owner has not budgeted to include C-Bus throughout their new or renovated home.

much does home automation cost?
- Is C-Bus wired or wireless?
Both wired and wireless C-Bus components are
available.
There is a larger range of wired C-Bus products than wireless C-Bus products.
When the installation of wiring is possible, you should use wired C-Bus home automation
components.
Wireless C-Bus devices are ideal when access
for wiring is not available. Wireless C-Bus components still require standard
240V wiring to power devices - it is the C-Bus communication between them that is
wireless.
- What is C-Bus Multi-room audio?
C-Bus Multiroom is a recent addition to Clipsal C-Bus home automation that provides
inexpensive multi-room audio and can be easily controlled using the beautiful C-Bus
DLT wall switches with built-in LCD displays.
- What does Clipsal C-Bus exclude?
While an extensive range of C-Bus devices are available, a professional home automation
installation will also include many non-C-Bus components. For example, structured
pre-wiring, phone or video-intercom systems, security
systems, dedicated pool controllers, high end home theatre and
multi-room audio.
- Can C-Bus control third party non-C-Bus equipment?
Yes. In the hands or your Clever Home automation Engineer C-Bus may be interfaced with
and/or control a wide range of third party non-C-Bus equipment.
